99 Cent Only Stores to Close ALL Locations Nationwide!

99 Cents Only stores will begin shuttering hundreds of locations on Friday, April 5, as the company moves toward total liquidation. Be on the lookout for clearance sales at your local store.

“99 Cents Only Stores, together with its financial and legal advisors, engaged in an extensive analysis of all available and credible alternatives to identify a solution that would allow the business to continue,” the company said in a press release.

“Following months of actively pursuing these alternatives, the company ultimately determined that an orderly wind-down was necessary and the best way to maximize the value of 99 Cents Only Stores’ assets.”

The 99 Cent Only Store was founded in 1982. AP News reported that California-based 99 cent Only Stores will close down all 371 stores nationwide.

The company has stores across California, Arizona, Nevada, and Texas that will begin will selling off their merchandise, as well as fixtures, furnishings, and equipment.

The dollar store has struggled since the COVID-19 pandemic, with consumer demand, inflation, and rising theft being cited as the cause, according to interim CEO Mike Simoncic.

This announcement comes on the heels of Dollar Tree’s announcement that they will close 1,000 stores,  both Dollar Tree and Family Dollar. We have a compiled list of Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores closing.
