What are the best paid survey sites? Or, are all survey sites a scam? Certainly, there must be legitimate survey sites online? But, there are so many scam survey sites, it’s hard to know what’s real and what to avoid. Here’s what need to know in order to avoid wasting your time. Keep in mind, this is my opinion based on working with these survey sites firsthand.
Types of online survey sites, and how they work
Companies with products, such as Tide or SharkNinja, employ marketing teams, or hire Public Relations companies. Then, market analysts determine what they should do in developing new products and marketing to end consumers. That’s where you come in; they want your opinion, and often they’ll compensate you for it. So these marketing and PR teams hire survey companies to gather data for them.

One of the reasons they’re legit is because they work with real companies to provide them with market research they need for their marketing strategy plans. Then, they use that market research information help to sell their products. In other words, your opinion can help them make decisions on everything from the way their packaging looks, to how and where they advertise their product.

Toluna: a legit survey site
Secondly, Toluna is a great survey site you may have heard about. Toluna is a real, legitimate market research company. I used to work for a Public Relations firm, and we actually used Toluna to gather public opinion on various products and services. So, I know firsthand that this is a legitimate company. How do Real Survey Sites Choose Who Gets Paid?
For example, SharkNinja might contact Toluna. one of the best survey sites we recommend. Shark might say, “hey, find out who buys the most vacuums and what features they want.”
Toluna has a team of experts who study all kinds of industry trends. They determine that women age 24-48 buy the most vacuums (I’m making this up to explain how survey sites work).
Then, they reach out to their membership (in this example: Toluna members), looking for that demographic: women age 24-48.
The company pays Toluna for the research. Toluna pays its members to take a survey – either in points, cash, or whatever. Sometimes, they test new product features by asking members (like you & me!) to test out the products for free! And, in some cases, they pay you in addition to giving you the product to try!
So, how do you find online survey sites that pay cash?
In short, the answer is to ask someone you trust. That’s why we’ve compiled only real, legit survey sites for you. We tell you which ones to avoid, and which survey sites are the best.
