Earth Day 2024 Freebies & Deals *Updated!* (4/22)

When is Earth Day? Earth Day is April 22, 2024. According to, this year’s theme is Planet vs. Plastic.

Our theme, Planet vs. Plastics, calls to advocate for widespread awareness on the health risk of plastics, rapidly phase out all single use plastics, urgently push for a strong UN Treaty on Plastic Pollution, and demand an end to fast fashion.

The first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970, as a teach-in project organized by Senator Gaylord Nelson from Clear Lake, Wisconsin (that’s my hometown!) By 1990, Earth Day was celebrated worldwide. And, now it has evolved into Earth Week and even Earth Month! During this celebration, people of all ages, races, and backgrounds come together for a common good.

Earth Day Activities include picking up trash and garbage, planting trees, cleaning up coral reefs, and planning for a better future for our planet. Earth Day was started by Senator Gaylord Nelson, who happens to be from the same small town in Wisconsin that I’m from! It started as an environmental teach-in. In other words, a day to learn about how to take better care of the earth. Please check back as we update our big list of Earth Day freebies for this year!

Top 5 Easy Ways to Help the Environment

  1. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: One of the best ways to help the environment and keep Earth clean is by adopting the three Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Reducing the amount you consume will decrease waste. Reusing items extends their life and keeps them out of landfills. Finally, recycling reduces the need for resources by repurposing them and using them again.
  2. Sustainable Transportation: Driving your vehicle is a significant cause of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Opting for more sustainable methods such as walking, cycling, using public transit, or ride-sharing can significantly reduce a person’s carbon footprint. Alternate fuel is another way to avoid polluting, to have a healthier planet.
  3. Support Renewable Energy: Energy sources like solar, wind, and hydropower are just a few ways to reduce our need for fossil fuels. Solar panels, green energy options from your power provider, and renewable energy are more alternatives.
  4. Conserve Water and Protect Waterways: Water is a precious resource, and conserving it is essential for keeping the Earth clean. Start with simple things such as fixing leaks, taking shorter showers, using water-efficient appliances, and turning off water when brushing your teeth. Additionally, avoid harmful chemicals and pesticides in gardening, dispose of hazardous waste properly, and participate in local clean-up efforts.
  5. Support Sustainable Brands: Purchasing products from companies that practice sustainability tells manufacturers that it matters. Look for brands that use eco-friendly materials, support fair labor practices, and have a minimal environmental footprint.
