When is Earth Day? Earth Day is Tuesday, April 22, 2025. According to Earthday.org, this year’s theme is Our Power Our Planet.
The theme for Earth Day 2025 is OUR POWER, OUR PLANET, inviting everyone around the globe to unite behind renewable energy, and to triple the global generation of clean electricity by 2030. How? By joining us in Earth Action Day, encouraging all to take action—educate, advocate, and mobilize. Pledge an Earth Action on social media. Attend/plan/register a local event. Integrate Earth Day lessons into your curricula. Donate to support our efforts. The first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970, as a teach-in project organized by Senator Gaylord Nelson from Clear Lake, Wisconsin (that’s my hometown!) By 1990, Earth Day was celebrated worldwide. And, now it has evolved into Earth Week and even Earth Month! During this celebration, people of all ages, races, and backgrounds come together for a common good.
Earth Day Activities include picking up trash and garbage, planting trees, cleaning up coral reefs, and planning for a better future for our planet. Earth Day was started by Senator Gaylord Nelson, who happens to be from the same small town in Wisconsin that I’m from! It started as an environmental teach-in. In other words, a day to learn about how to take better care of the earth. Please check back as we update our big list of Earth Day freebies for this year!

Recycle Your Paint Care – Recycle your unused paint. Limited states. ACE Hardware and Sherwin Williams also may recycle paint near you. You don’t even have to recycle paint you bought from them! While you’re at it, look into whether your city or county has a household hazardous waste drop off. They make take certain paints and chemicals, and some even allow you to get free paint and household chemicals from them for free!
