How to Tell Someone They Matter
Step one is pretty easy, thanks to the You Matter Marathon. Just sign up to get 10 free You Matter cards mailed to you. It’s totally free.
While you wait, think about 10 people who might benefit from a small token of appreciation. This is a small step, but you’ll be surprised how much it brightens your mood to shift your thinking this way.
When you receive the cards, hand them out! You can choose anyone, at any time – planned or not. Maybe it’s a cashier at the grocery store who looks like they could use a pick-me-up, or your child’s teacher who might be stressed out and needs a pat on the back. Or, someone who held the door open, or maybe the neighbor who always watches out for your place while you’re away. No gesture is too big or too small to let them know they matter.
Individuals receive 10 You Matter cards for free while supplies last. Ambassadors, representing a group such as a school, a business, or a religious institution, will also receive 10 You Matter cards for free and be told how to purchase or print all the cards needed for your group.
According to their site, you can expect your free cards to arrive in 3 – 4 weeks. They also note that supplies are limited, and we can only give 10 free cards per person per year.
You can order free “You Matter” Cards to be mailed to you. If you prefer, you can also send digital “You Matter” cards. Or, you can also print them out. They have a PDF File to print your “You Matter” cards.

You Matter Marathon (YMM) is all about making connections between people by inviting people to share these free You Matter cards.
According to their website, more than 302,741 people from all 50 states and 100 countries have shared over 2 million cards as of January 2025. Their goal for this year is to reach 3 million cards shared. And, you can help!
