Airbnb, Lyft, Uber are offering free housing and rides to Los Angeles wildfire evacuees
Devastating wildfires are raging through Southern California areas of Pacific Palisades, Alta Dena, and more forcing some 130,000+ people to evacuate. The scenes on television look like a terrifying movie and even though it’s coming from Hollywood, they are real-life images.
Having lived in Southern California for 18 years, this one hits close. We had numerous close calls with wildfires when we lived there. There’s just nothing like it. Our hearts go out to all those affected, and our sincere appreciation goes to all working tirelessly to combat this tragedy.
Uber and Lyft announced they are offering people who have to evacuate free rides to designated shelters through January 15, 2025. Use the promo code in the app before requesting your ride to receive the discount.
“We’re teaming up with local authorities and first responders to make sure everyone who needs help evacuating gets a ride,” said Camiel Irving, Uber’s vice president of operations, said in a statement. “As we move forward, we’re staying closely connected with state officials and emergency teams and stand ready to do everything we can to support those impacted by the fires.”

To redeem a free ride up to $40, evacuees must use the promo code WILDFIRE25 in the Uber app. Uber ensured that free rides would not affect drivers’ earnings.
Lyft Fire Evacuation Coupon Code
Lyft: Use promo code CAFIRERELIEF25 for up to two rides at up to $25 off each. To use this free Lyft coupon, open the Lyft app and sign in or sign up. Then, go to rewards and enter promo code:
Airbnb Wildfire Evacuations Promo
Airbnb is offering free temporary housing for those evacuated by Los Angeles-area wildfires. Stays are being funded by Airbnb.org and hosts who are opening their homes to those displaced by the tragedies. In conjunction with the help of 211 LA, Airbnb encourages those in need of assistance for temporary housing to fill out this form or contact 211 LA.
The company is offering free and discounted stays to people forced to evacuate in the Altadena, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Pasadena, Santa Monica, and Sylmar areas.
In addition to free stays, there are several resources for discounted stays during evacuations.

Verizon: Verizon announced it will waive call, text and data charges for customers in hardest hit areas. The company also deployed free Wifi and charging stations at three wildfire shelters.
