Memorial Day is Monday, May 30, 2022. If you serve our country, then we thank you for your service!! Memorial Day was declared a national holiday in 1868, to honor those lost in service to our great country. As a result, it was formally known as Decoration Day.
Of course, many retailers and restaurants offer deals for active military and veterans for Memorial Day. Here’s a list of freebies and deals we’ve found for Memorial Day! In other words, you can get free food, free admission, and discounts on airlines, cars and more. Of course, most of these offers do require a valid military ID.
Free American Flags at Ace!
Stop by and pick up a Free American Flag at Ace Hardware! If you’d love a free USA Flag, then head on down to Ace Hardware on Saturday, May 28! Because, they’re giving away a million FREE American Flags to anyone who wants one. They’ll also send a flag to a local VFW Post for every free flag they give away. This is not the first year they’ve given free flags. So, get down to your store while supplies last.
Free Meals and Discounts for Veterans and Active Duty Military on Memorial Day
7-Eleven
For past Memorial Days, and on Veterans day, 7-Eleven has given free medium coffee or Big Gulp with valid ID for Veterans Advantage Members.
Boston Market
Offering veterans and active duty military who are Veterans Advantage members a discount of 20%! There are 340+ chain locations in 27 states and Puerto Rico.
Bubba Gump
Of course, Bubba met Forrest Gump while serving in the military, so it stands to reason that Bubba Gump would offer 20% off to veterans and active duty military every day. Bubba Gump has locations in CA, CO, FL, MD, MN, MI, NV, NY, TN, and TX.
Buffalo Wild Wings
B-dubs offers 10% off with valid ID, so don’t miss the chance to save on your delicious wings! They have over 1200 locations nationwide. Sign up for the Buffalo eClub to get free food on your birthday.

Participating Burger King locations offer military discounts of 10% off your order. So, be sure to ask at you local BK!
Chick-fil-A
Participating locations nationwide offer military discounts of 10% off your receipt, so don’t miss the chance to save.
Chuck E. Cheeses Pizza
Traditionally, Chuck E. Cheese’s offers veterans and military discounts on bundled deals. So, check with your location (they’re in almost every state) to see if they’re participating.
Cici’s Pizza
Participating locations offer military discounts, so check with your Cici’s to see if they have a Memorial Day special for you. CiCi’s Pizza has nearly 300 locations nationwide in AL, AR, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MI, MO, NE, NC, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, and VA.
Many of our restaurants do offer discounts. However, since most of our restaurants are individually owned, discounts vary by location. We suggest contacting your local Cicis to inquire about discounts offered at their specific restaurants. Please refer to our locations page to locate a Cicis near you.
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store
Military can save from 20% – 30% at Cracker Barrel, depending on location. So, check with yours to see if they’re offering. Cracker Barrel is nationwide, with only 5 states that don’t have a location.
Dairy Queen
DQ offers military discounts at some locations; so, check with your neighborhood Dairy Queen to see if they participate and what their discount is.
Firebirds Wood Fired Grill
Firebirds wants to treat the military to Free lunch or dinner entrée for active military and veterans. In other words, their Treat a HERO promo offers a FREE meal on Monday, May 31, 2021. So, dine with a veteran, active duty service member or Gold Star family and their lunch or dinner is our treat! You’ll get a free entree equal to or less than your purchase. There are 50 locations in 19 states — primarily in the Eastern and Central U.S., and Arizona.
Fuddruckers
At participating locations, Fuddruckers offers Military discounts of up to 15% off. They have locations nationwide in AZ, CA, CT, FL, GA, KS, LA, MA, MI, MS, MO, MT, NE, NV, NJ, NM, NC, ND, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, and VA..
Hard Rock Cafe
Participating Hard Rock Cafe locations offer military 15% off with valid ID. There are 33 locations across the U.S.
Hooters
All military personnel, healthcare workers and first responders get 20% off takeout orders. This offer is valid every day with a valid form of ID. In an effort to help keep everyone safe, Hooters is providing a convenient, worry-free option for customers to get their favorite wings – as well as beer, wine and spirits in participating states – through Hooters new curbside pick-up. Guests can now place an order curbside or simply order ahead of time and pick it up outside the restaurant, as Hooters Girls will be servicing all orders in the parking lot. Save 10% off lunch or dinner for US military members, veterans, nurses, doctors, and first responders. McCormick’s has 26 locations across the United States.
Mission BBQ
Free Mission BBQ sandwiches for select military personnel each day of the week prior to Memorial Day. Mission Barbecue has locations in CT, DE, FL, IL, IN, KY, MD, and MI.
Ninety-Nine Restaurants
In the past, 99 has offered free entree with any meal purchase at Ninety-Nine Restaurants with valid military ID required. Get a free appetizer on your birthday when you join the Ninety Nine eClub. They’re located in the Northeast, in CT, MA, ME, NH, NY, RI and VT.
Outback Steakhouse
Outback offers 10% off to military and veterans with valid ID. Outback Steakhouse has restaurants nationwide.
Pie Five Pizza
In the past, Pie Five Pizza has offered active military members, retired military members, and any current or past member of the Armed Forces/DoD can receive one personal pizza for free at participating locations. Check with your location to see if they’re joining in!

Each year, RC Wiley rolls out the discounts with a huge Memorial Day special! RC Willey has stores in CA, ID, NV and UT.
Rubio’s Coastal Grill
Rubios invites military and veterans to enjoy one free adult entree, with the purchase of another adult entree. To get this deal, show your military ID at a participating location. Check with the Rubio’s near you. Rubios has locations in AZ, CA and NV.
Shoney’s
Shoney’s offers veterans, active military, and first responders 15% off with valid ID. Shoney’s has locations in 17 states, primarily in the South with additional locations in the Midwest and lower Mid-Atlantic states. Plus, get a free starter just for Shoneys eClub.
Free Admission for Military
- Blue Star Museums – Free admission for military families from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
- Blue Star Theatres – Ultimately, the offer is a discounted or complimentary admission for all military personnel and their families, as well as veterans.
- Busch Gardens, SeaWorld, and Sesame Place – Free tickets and discounts for the military from Waves of Honor.

- National Park Service – Military and their dependents and get a FREE Annual America The Beautiful Park Pass. The ID that is required for this free pass is a Common Access Card (CAC) or Military ID (Form 1173). Must apply in person at a federal recreation site.
